Flexible and capped tap on, tap off contactless gives passengers the opportunity to pay flexibly, with minimal planning in advance and still get rewarded for regular travel. The more journeys made in a week using tap on tap off contactless, the cheaper the daily price cap will get. And if the total cost of journeys reach the weekly price cap, passengers won’t pay any more for that weeks’ travel when paying with the same card and tapping on and off as usual.
To make things even better Metrobus are offering an introductory special weekly capped rate of just £19 for the next few weeks when paying for journeys in this way. Passengers can expect to travel as often as they like from Monday to Sunday and only pay £19 per week with tap on tap off contactless.
The discount varies based on how often a passenger travels. There is no discount provided if a passenger just meets a single daily cap once in a week. If the passenger meets a second daily cap, the discount is 5% for that day. If a passenger meets a third daily cap, the discount is 10% for that day. If a passenger meets a fourth daily cap, then the discount is 15% for that day. Once a passenger reaches the price of a weekly ticket (£19) the rest of the week is free.
Metrobus Commercial Director, Nick Hill said he wanted to provide a more innovative way to support people returning to work and the new ways people in our community are going about their daily lives.
“The way people work and live their lives has changed so much since the start of the pandemic. We want to provide a quick and easy way to travel that reflects these changes yet still offers excellent value for money. With contactless tap on tap off, our customers don’t need to plan their journeys in advance and will pay a lower price each day. With high frequency services on many of our routes, and a no hassle way to pay, things couldn’t be easier. That’s why we have introduced a discounted daily cap with tap on, tap off contactless and a super launch price of just £19 per week. ”
Flexible capping with tap on, tap off contactless is perfect if you are only in the office a few days a week, heading into town for shopping or meeting up with friends. This new offer gives passengers flexibility and great savings at the same time.
Tap on, tap off contactless is available for both Metrorider and Metrovoyager. If you’re not one of thousands of people already travelling this way, why not give it a go? Just tap your Visa, MasterCard, Google or Apple Pay on the reader as you get on the bus and tap off as you leave. There are card readers at every set of doors and passengers don’t have to wait until the bus stops, simply tap off as the bus approaches the stop.
