A planning application is being prepared by abrdn (Aberdeen Standard Investments) for a bespoke parcel distribution centre on land to the north and south of Hydehurst Lane in Crawley.
This development will be a natural extension to Manor Royal Business District, and would support up to 130 jobs on site and approximately £5.9m to the local economy annually.
Key features
• The development proposes c. 5,900sqm of storage and distribution warehousing across a single building for a business that already has a local operation and is now seeking to expand in Crawley.
• The parcel distribution centre will be accessed from Hydehurst Lane, which currently serves the Manor Royal Business District and joins the A23, which provides links into Crawley, Gatwick Airport and the M23.
• The design will provide c.120 car parking spaces for staff, and c.120 parking spaces for delivering vehicles, in addition to cycle parking.
• The height of the building will be c.12m in keeping with the character of the Manor Royal Business District.
• A landscape buffer will be planted along the northern boundary, with more formal planting along the southern boundary.
• New flood attenuation features will be provided and the Public Right of Way will be moved slightly to the east and improved where it passes through the site.
