Leading ventilation manufacturer Vent-Axia is delighted to announce that two of its products have been shortlisted in the prestigious H&V News Awards 2022. The Vent-Axia Lo-Carbon Multivent MEV range made with recycled plastic and the Lo-Carbon NBR dMEV C have both been shortlisted in the Domestic Ventilation Product of the Year category. Being named as a double finalist once again cements Vent-Axia’s position as the leader in low carbon ventilation.

The H&V News Awards have been celebrating the achievements of the HVAC industry for almost 30 years and looks to reward the most forward-thinking, innovative, and customer-focused businesses in the industry. The H&V News Awards has the most rigorous judging process in the industry with the second stage of judging involving finalists giving a presentation to the judging panel. Winners will then be announced at a ceremony on 24th November at the London Hilton Metropole attended by people from across the HVAC industry.

“We are delighted to have been named a double finalist at the prestigious H&V News Awards – this takes it to six years in a row achieving multiple shortlistings!”, said Lena Hebestreit, Marketing Manager at Vent-Axia. “This success is a testament to our staff who work tirelessly to continually improve our product offering. And we’re helping customers make sustainable choices by offering the Multivent MEV range made from recycled plastic and the NBR dMEV C which has the lowest SFP on the market.”

The award-winning Lo-Carbon Multivent mechanical extract ventilation (MEV) range offers a total of nine units all made with recycled plastic. Designed to provide a simple and effective solution to help housebuilders meet the Future Homes Standard, the Multivent MEV range provides the ideal solution for new build residential projects, helping housebuilders meet DER requirements through market-leading energy efficiency and improving indoor air quality (IAQ) for homeowners. Now on top of this the move to recycled plastic further improves the environmental credentials of the product for housebuilders and homeowners. Manufactured from a reliable recycled source, which is regularly available, the new Multivent MEV units are now available in black, rather than white, as they are made from black recycled ABS. The change from manufacturing from virgin to recycled plastic does not affect the function or performance of the MEV units, which are still market-leading.

The Multivent MEV range offers a reliable, highly efficient, quiet and easy to operate ventilation system, which ensures housebuilders have exactly the right ventilation for a property. The units use energy efficient EC/DC motors, with 1/3 less energy lost to heat than a conventional AC motor. The MEV units offer an easy-to-operate control platform and extremely low operating noise. Additional benefits include increased ventilation rates, compact design, easy installation, as well as simple and accurate commissioning. With a common digital control platform throughout the range and smart accessories for use in the home, the MEV range is a breeze to install, commission and control. Plus, the wealth of control and switching options across the range gives housebuilders the flexibility to provide a solution for any new build scenario.

Meanwhile, the Lo-Carbon NBR dMEV C, a highly efficient de-centralised mechanical extract ventilation (dMEV) unit is designed for kitchen, utility, bathroom and cloakroom applications. The Lo-Carbon NBR dMEV C achieves Building Regulations with the quietest sound levels, the lowest number of installed fans required and the most efficient fans on the market. Developed for housebuilders it has been tested to the new SAP 10 performance requirement and is listed in the PCDB with its exceedingly low Specific Fan Power (SFP) values as impressively low as 0.08 w/l/s and provides almost silent operation at 7.4 dB(A).

The Lo-Carbon NBR dMEV C achieves its low SFPs and low sound power levels through its patent pending air pathway design, which promotes turbulent airflow, allowing for a predictable performance curve and ensuring performance can be met. High-pressure development and the silent mixed flow impeller mean the Lo-Carbon dMEV C can meet the requirements of many domestic installations without the need to use a traditional centrifugal fan. Featuring a single high efficiency EC/DC motor the fan achieves highest in class efficiency thanks to its axial fan, which consumes a fraction of the energy of the equivalent centrifugal fan - drastically reducing Dwelling Emission Rates (DER).

The Lo-Carbon NBR dMEV C is IPX5 rated, allowing installation in Zone 1, 2 and 3 and offers 100mm and 125mm models, with variable speed setting for easy installation and commissioning. The fan’s brand-new control platform provides fully adjustable airflow, meaning wholehouse rates can be achieved easily using fewer fans, delivering increased ventilation rates at the lowest sound levels with the fewest fans. The controls for the dMEV C unit provide fully adjustable, continuous trickle speeds with a boost speed that’s activated via an integral humidistat or via LS Input.
