Move It: Driving Sustainable Change in Manor Royal
As we continue our journey towards a greener future, the Manor Royal BID’s “Move It” initiative is making significant strides in promoting sustainable travel within our community. Launched in September 2024 as part of the BID’s “Sustain & Renew” objective, Move It is a collaborative effort involving key partners from the Crawley Growth Program, including West Sussex County Council, Crawley Borough Council, Metro Bus, and Easit.
What’s Happening?
Each month, we bring you the latest updates on the sustainability activities taking place through the Move It initiative. Our Move It team hosts monthly Roadshows at various businesses within Manor Royal, creating a platform to engage with local companies and their staff to address transport, parking, and congestion challenges.
These Roadshows are not only informative but also entirely free for Manor Royal companies. They provide a wonderful opportunity to explore how we can all contribute to a more sustainable lifestyle.
Why not host a Roadshow?
At the Roadshow, we will share the benefits you and your colleagues can access. The goal is to inspire everyone to reduce our carbon footprint by promoting a healthier lifestyle and providing information about sustainable travel discounts and initiatives. These initiatives can help save money on commutes and include access to easitSHARE (a car-sharing portal), discounts with Southern Rail and Metrobus, and free services offered by Crawley Wellbeing, designed to support a healthier community.
Recent Roadshows, held at Virgin, Viridien, Peoples Partnership and Welland, generated remarkable interest! Last month’s event at Welland highlighted a strong enthusiasm among staff eager to learn more about sustainable travel options and discover how they can participate in this vital movement. They also learned about offers available to them that they might otherwise be unaware of.
Travel Survey
As part of the Move It initiative, we recently invited businesses in Manor Royal to participate in a survey aimed at gathering data on how employees travel to and from the area, as well as the factors influencing their travel choices. We received a very positive response—thank you to everyone who participated, 5 lucky entrants each won a £50.00 Amazon voucher. We are currently analysing the results and exploring ways to address the suggestions and issues raised. Once that has been done, the survey report will be published online.

As we champion sustainability, it’s important to keep the conversation engaging. Did you know that simple changes in our daily commutes can lead to a significant reduction in our collective carbon emissions? Small steps like carpooling, using public transport, or biking can have a remarkable impact!
