Hemiko is delivering clean, low carbon heat to support the businesses and community of Manor Royal and Crawley. We are working closely with organisations across the area to explore connections to supply efficient, reliable energy, supporting the Manor Royal BID Sustainability Action Plan. Through this partnership, Hemiko is helping to make Manor Royal a leading example of sustainable business growth, green innovation, and community benefit.

Heat networks are a low carbon alternative to gas boilers, providing heating and hot water to buildings by capturing unused or wasted heat and distributing it through underground pipes. They are one of the most cost-effective ways for urban and industrial areas like Manor Royal to decarbonise.

Hemiko is involved in another major project in West Sussex — operating the Crawley town centre heat network on behalf of Crawley Borough Council. Nationally, Hemiko has £1 billion to invest in town-and city-scale heat networks by 2030, including over £410 million planned for Manor Royal by 2050.

Plans for the decarbonisation of Crawley are progressing well. Construction on the first cluster of the heat network is expected to begin in 2026, with an air source heat pump system planned as the first heat source. Hemiko continues to engage with businesses and organisations regarding further clusters around Manor Royal, Crawley town centre, and Crawley Hospital, helping to shape a network that meets the needs of the community while reducing carbon emissions.

As a trusted clean heat partner, Hemiko is committed to delivering long-term value and community benefit. We’ve already supported initiatives such as the Ifield College Careers Fair and the Manor Royal Recognition Awards, and we’ll continue to create opportunities for local skills, education, and employment.
